Ruben Amorim expressed concern over Manchester United's league standing rather than his job security following their 1-0 loss to Tottenham. James Maddison's 13th-minute goal secured Spurs' victory, moving them ahead of United, who now sit 15th after consecutive defeats. United have lost eight of their last 12 Premier League matches, with only Leicester City and Southampton losing more in this period.
United's current season has seen them lose 12 out of 25 top-flight games, marking their worst performance at this stage since the 1973-74 season when they had 13 losses. Despite opportunities to equalise, notably through Alejandro Garnacho, who missed a crucial chance after Maddison's goal, United failed to score. "It was the difference of the game, they scored, and we didn't," Amorim told BBC Match of the Day.

Amorim emphasised his focus on helping his players and improving their position in the table. He stated, "I am not worried. I understand our fans; and what the media think about it. I hate to lose, that feeling is the worst." His primary concern remains winning games rather than personal job security.
Injuries have plagued United recently, with key players like Kobbie Mainoo, Manuel Ugarte, Lisandro Martinez, and Amad Diallo unavailable for selection. Amorim fears Diallo might miss the rest of the season. This situation left Victor Lindelof as the only senior player on the bench during their match against Tottenham.
Amorim made just one substitution late in the game when Chido Obi-Martin replaced Casemiro in the 91st minute. This substitution made Obi-Martin United's third-youngest Premier League player at 17 years and 79 days old. Only Angel Gomes and Shola Shoretire were younger when they debuted.
When questioned about not giving more playing time to young talents, Amorim explained his cautious approach due to the Premier League's challenging nature. "It is the hardest competition in the world," he said. He felt confident in his team's push for a goal without needing changes but assured that young players would get opportunities.
Amorim aims to recover injured players for upcoming matches while maintaining unity within the squad for a strong finish to the season. His focus remains on team cohesion and readiness for future challenges as they aim to improve their league standing before starting anew next season.
