Real Madrid's manager, Carlo Ancelotti, has labelled the preparations for their Champions League match against Manchester City as particularly challenging. Despite Real Madrid's dominance, having eliminated Manchester City more than any other team in the knockout stages, Ancelotti acknowledges the difficulty of facing them. He has won four out of 12 matches against Pep Guardiola's teams throughout his career. Ancelotti considers this rivalry one of Europe's most significant, noting its evolution into a modern classic due to frequent encounters over recent years.

He emphasised that success hinges on various factors like attitude and individual quality. The manager believes that whoever advances will have a strong chance of progressing further in the tournament.

Real Madrid's recent successes include winning the Champions League in 2022 and last year after defeating City in the knockout rounds. Despite City's struggles in the Premier League this season, Ancelotti does not underestimate them. Currently fifth, City trails Liverpool by 15 points after a poor run late last year affected their title hopes.

City's European campaign also faced challenges; they secured their knockout stage spot with a crucial win over Club Brugge. However, Ancelotti anticipates another tough contest against Guardiola’s side. "The reality is that's always a headache (playing against Manchester City)," he remarked about preparing for matches against Guardiola.

Ancelotti praised Guardiola as an innovator who has significantly contributed to football. He expressed respect for him as one of the best coaches globally. Preparing for games against Guardiola is difficult due to his tactical innovations that challenge opponents' strategies.
