Carlo Ancelotti, the head coach of Real Madrid, believes Kylian Mbappe has the potential to match Cristiano Ronaldo's achievements. This comes after Mbappe scored a hat-trick in their 3-1 win against Manchester City in the Champions League. With these goals, Mbappe has now scored 28 times in 38 matches during his first season at the club.
Despite his impressive goal tally, Mbappe is more focused on winning trophies with Real Madrid than individual accolades. He expressed this sentiment by saying, "I was the Champions League's top scorer last year, but did I win it? No." His priority remains helping the team achieve success over personal milestones.

Mbappe's record at Paris Saint-Germain was also remarkable, with 256 goals in 308 appearances. However, he emphasises that titles are more important to him than being a leading scorer. "If with these goals we win titles I will sign with my blood," he stated, highlighting his dedication to team success.
Ancelotti acknowledges that while Mbappe is a standout player, Real Madrid's strength lies in their collective effort. The coach noted that many players contribute significantly through teamwork rather than just individual brilliance. This collective approach is what sets the team apart and drives their success.
Real Madrid advanced past Manchester City with a 6-3 aggregate victory but had to play an extra round due to finishing outside the top eight in the league stage. Ancelotti expressed frustration over this situation but acknowledged that it has been beneficial emotionally for the team as they prepare for tougher challenges ahead.
The next challenge for Real Madrid will be determined by Friday's draw, where they could face either Bayer Leverkusen or Atletico Madrid in the round of 16. Ancelotti mentioned that entering this stage marks the beginning of a challenging period for the team as there is no time for rest.
For Mbappe, facing Atletico Madrid would be preferable due to less travel involved compared to other potential opponents. He remarked that playing against Atletico would mean two challenging matches without additional travel burdens.
Ancelotti praised Mbappe's enthusiasm and potential to reach Ronaldo's level but stressed that hard work is essential since Ronaldo set high standards at Real Madrid with his record of 451 goals in 438 matches. The coach believes Mbappe can achieve similar greatness if he continues his dedication.
