Ancelotti Remains Confident Despite Criticism Ahead Of Champions League Clash With Arsenal

Carlo Ancelotti expresses confidence in Real Madrid's abilities despite recent criticism. As they prepare for the Champions League match against Arsenal, he emphasises the importance of focusing on each game and maintaining a strong mentality.

Carlo Ancelotti remains calm despite criticism of his Real Madrid squad as they prepare for their Champions League quarter-final against Arsenal. Madrid, having secured six Champions League titles in the past decade, face scrutiny over their inconsistent form this season. They trail Barcelona by four points in LaLiga after a 2-1 defeat to Valencia.

Ancelotti emphasised the importance of focusing on upcoming matches rather than dwelling on criticism. "We can't think about criticism when we have a game every three days," he stated during a press conference. He highlighted that the first leg is crucial but not decisive, with another 90 minutes to follow at Santiago Bernabeu.

Ancelotti Confident Ahead of Arsenal Clash

Madrid's recent performances have been underwhelming compared to their near-perfect 2023-24 campaign. Last season, they clinched both the Champions League and LaLiga titles, suffering only two defeats across all competitions. The addition of Kylian Mbappe raised expectations further, yet they have already lost five LaLiga matches this season.

The upcoming clash with Arsenal marks just the third European meeting between the two clubs. Their last encounter was in the 2005-06 UEFA Champions League round of 16, where Arsenal triumphed 1-0 on aggregate. Notably, Madrid have not lost a first-leg match in their last eight knockout stage ties.

Despite recent setbacks, Ancelotti remains optimistic about his team's prospects. He expressed confidence after eliminating Manchester City and Atletico Madrid in earlier rounds of the competition. "If I didn't believe we were going to win titles this season, I would have quit already," Ancelotti declared.

The manager stressed the significance of experience in high-pressure Champions League matches. "The experience we have in the Champions League is very important," he noted. This knowledge helps alleviate fear and manage pressure during crucial games.

Ancelotti is determined to compete for all available titles until the end of the season. He acknowledged that if things don't go as planned, they will need to focus on next season's preparations. However, he remains committed to achieving success this year.
