Kylian Mbappe's goal-scoring performance at Real Madrid has been a topic of discussion for Carlo Ancelotti as they prepare to face Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League. Since joining from Paris Saint-Germain, Mbappe has netted eight times in 12 matches across all competitions, with six goals in LaLiga. Despite his contributions, Ancelotti believes Mbappe should be scoring more.
Mbappe was instrumental in Real Madrid's 2-1 victory over Celta Vigo recently but was substituted by Dani Ceballos towards the end. The French forward has taken 44 shots this season, leading LaLiga, and only Robert Lewandowski has more shots on target than Mbappe's 20. However, he has not met his expected goals (xG) tally of 7.18 in the league.

Ancelotti expressed his desire for Mbappe to focus on scoring rather than pressing. "I want Mbappe to score goals, I prefer he scores rather than pressing," Ancelotti stated. He emphasised that the role of a centre-forward remains unchanged and expects Mbappe to position himself effectively for quick transitions.
Real Madrid is gearing up to face Borussia Dortmund, a team that has posed challenges for Mbappe recently. In their past encounters in the Champions League, Mbappe scored three goals in his first two matches against them while playing for Monaco in 2016-17. However, he has only managed one goal in the last six meetings and hasn't scored in the last three games against Dortmund.
Ancelotti also commended Jude Bellingham for his efforts this season despite not scoring yet. Last season, Bellingham scored 23 goals and provided 13 assists across all competitions, helping Los Blancos secure two trophies. He shares the record for most assists in the Champions League since last season with Marcel Sabitzer.
"We are satisfied with Bellingham's work," Ancelotti remarked. He highlighted Bellingham's dedication on the field and noted that while he hasn't matched last year's goal tally, it wasn't anticipated. Ancelotti stressed that Bellingham's overall contribution is more crucial than replicating last year's goal count.
Real Madrid continues to rely on its talented squad as they aim for success this season. With players like Mbappe and Bellingham contributing in various ways, Ancelotti remains optimistic about their prospects moving forward.
