Carlo Ancelotti is optimistic about Vinicius Junior's potential to match his Real Madrid performances with Brazil. Although Vinicius hasn't yet reached his peak for the national team, Ancelotti believes he will soon display the same form internationally. Ancelotti will lead Brazil for the first time against Ecuador in a World Cup qualifier on Thursday, followed by a home game against Paraguay in Sao Paulo.
Under Ancelotti's guidance at Real Madrid, Vinicius has thrived since 2021. Together, they have secured two LaLiga titles and two Champions League victories. During this period, Vinicius scored 90 goals and provided 59 assists in 198 matches, averaging 0.75 goal involvements per game. This is a significant improvement from his performance under Zinedine Zidane, where he averaged just 0.2 goals or assists per match.

Despite his club success, Vinicius has found it challenging to replicate this form with Brazil's senior team. In 39 appearances, he has scored only six goals. His struggles were evident during last year's Copa America when a reckless booking against Colombia led to a suspension, causing him to miss Brazil's quarter-final defeat to Uruguay.
Ancelotti remains confident about Vinicius' future with Brazil. "I don’t know if he’s been at his best here, but he has time to do what he does at Real Madrid," Ancelotti stated when discussing Vinicius' potential. He emphasised that Vinicius is crucial for the team and assured fans that they would soon witness his best performances with Brazil.
Ancelotti's Real Madrid teams are known for their resilience and ability to secure results under pressure. They achieved notable comebacks during their Champions League triumphs in 2021-22 and 2023-24. Ancelotti prioritises tactical organisation and determination over having a distinct playing style, especially at the international level.
"I don’t want a team with a clear identity," Ancelotti explained regarding his tactical philosophy. He stressed the importance of defending well as a unit, regardless of formation, and combining individual talent with teamwork and commitment.
As Ancelotti prepares for his debut as Brazil's manager, expectations are high for both him and Vinicius Junior. With Ancelotti's experience and strategic approach, there is optimism that Vinicius will soon shine on the international stage just as he has done at Real Madrid.
