Andersen Completes Fulham Return In Permanent Move From Crystal Palace

Joachim Andersen returns to Fulham on a five-year deal from Crystal Palace for £30 million. This marks his second stint at the club, enhancing Marco Silva's squad ahead of the season.

Joachim Andersen has rejoined Fulham, three years after his loan spell, this time on a permanent basis from Crystal Palace. The Danish defender, who played 31 matches for Fulham in the 2020-21 season, has signed a five-year contract. The transfer fee is reported to be £30 million.

Andersen's return marks Marco Silva's fifth senior signing of the transfer window. This move comes just before Fulham's first home game of the season against Leicester City on Saturday. During his previous stint with Fulham, Andersen contributed to nine clean sheets, a record only surpassed by the 11 he achieved with Palace in the 2021-22 season.

Andersen's Fulham Return Confirmed

The 28-year-old was a key player for Crystal Palace last season. He completed the most passes (1713) and won the most aerial duels (91) for Oliver Glasner’s team. Over three full seasons at Selhurst Park, Andersen made 113 appearances across all competitions, scoring three goals and providing six assists.

Reflecting on his return to Fulham, Andersen expressed his excitement: "It's really nice to be here. Feels a little bit like coming home, so it's a good feeling," he told Fulham's official website. He added that he was already familiar with the club's playing style and many of its players and staff.

Andersen explained that his decision to return was influenced by discussions with manager Marco Silva and considerations about what was best for him and his family. "I had some good talks with the manager. I know the playing style he likes to play," Andersen said.

Fulham welcomed Andersen back warmly, with their official Twitter account posting "Velkommen hjem, Joa!" which translates to "Welcome home, Joa!"

This signing is expected to bolster Fulham’s defence as they aim for a strong start in their upcoming fixtures. Andersen’s familiarity with the club and its environment should help him integrate quickly into Silva’s squad.
