Antoine Griezmann has no regrets staying at Atletico

Griezmann has scored only four goals for Atletico who are in fourth place in La Liga and are also on the verge of their quickest exit from the Champions League since 2009.

Antoine Griezmann dimisses January transfer talks

Madrid, November 22: Antoine Griezmann claims that he has no regrets after rejecting Manchester United in the summer despite the struggle with Atletico Madrid so far this season.

The Frenchman is currently in the midst of his most miserable season with Atletico where he has scored only four goals for Atletico who are stuck in fourth place in La Liga and are also on the verge of their quickest exit from the Champions League since 2009.

In the summer, the French international looked be heading to Old Trafford and even expressed candidly about his chance of a move during a television interview. However, a transfer ban for Atletico Madrid changed the whole scenario.

The 26-year-old made a massive u-turn to pledge his future to La Liga club and also decided to sign an improved contract with the club. However, there is still a strong interest from United in the forward for a transfer next year.

The transfer ban will be lifted in January when Diego Costa completes his transfer from Chelsea to Madrid. Thus Costa's potential arrival has circulated new rumours over Griezmann's future.

However, the 26-year-old rubbished all the rumours and suggested that he will not leave the club in the New Year and only hopes to play with two of their new recruitments, Costa and Vitolo from January.

“I do not regret having stayed at Atletico,” Griezmann told French TV channel Telefoot. “It was my choice, I am happy with my choice, even though I have gone seven games without scoring. I will score again soon.”

And when asked if he had discussed a January move, he said: “No. In addition, Diego Costa and Vitolo will come, so we'll try to keep the team high enough. These two reinforcements will do us good. An exit agreement? I did not speak about that with the president."

The 2014 and 2016 finalists will face AS Roma in their next match in Champions league and to keep their hopes of qualifying for the next round alive, they now have to win all of their remaining matches.
