Antonio Conte urged supporters to give Alvaro Morata time to adapt

Antonio Conte has called on the fans to help Alvaro Morato to settle in at Chelsea before being critical in his early days.

Bengaluru, July 27: Chelsea boss Antonio Conte has urged his supporters to give new signing Alvaro Morata time to settle in at Chelsea and get accustomed to the Blues system.

The Spaniard made a £70 million move from the La Liga giants Real Madrid this Summer after a lot of speculation and made his debut in a pre-season friendly against Bayern Munich at China.

The attacker came on at the 63rd minute of the game and provided Batshuayi with an assist for Chelsea's second goal while they were trailing by 3-1.

The English Champions eventually lost the match 3-2, however, Conte insisted he was happy with what he saw from his new signing but suggests it is too soon to talk about him.

Conte said: "It is too early now to talk about the impact of Alvaro during the game. Remember he stays with us only two days and he needs to work and find our idea of football."

"For sure, he showed great will to fight, will to go into our idea of football and for us he is a good buy."

"It is right to give him time to adapt to our idea of football, but for sure I think we must be pleased for his performance."

It was the first defeat of pre-season for Chelsea after beating Arsenal 3-0 on Saturday (July 22), and although generally frustrated Conte played down his side's poor performance.

"For sure, to lose three goals in half an hour is difficult," he said.

"Despite this, the players' response was very good because we didn't give up."

"Our start wasn't good but I think the players showed great willingness to try and change the result. I'm not too worried because we are still in pre-season, we are working very hard and Bayern is one of the top clubs in the world."

Chelsea will play their next Pre-season match on Saturday (July 29) when they face Inter Milan.

It will be the Blues' last friendly before their London derby in the community shield against Arsenal on 6th August and after their 3-2 defeat against Bayern, the London side will be ready to bounce back.
