Has the Anwar Ali saga finally ended? As the season is set to begin in a matter of days, PSC have come ahead with the ruling of the Indian football team defender with a ban of four months where he neither will be able to play for the club in their domestic games (ISL, Super Cup, and such) nor in their international matches (AFC Challenge League).
Additionally, his former club Mohun Bagan are set to receive a hefty compensation of Rs. 12.9 crore which will have to be paid by Anwar Ali, Delhi FC, and East Bengal FC. The calculation of the compensation that the Mariners are eligible to receive, goes like this -

The remainder value of the contract Anwar Ali had with Mohun Bagan - Rs. 8.4 Cr.
The amount Mohun Bagan paid for the loan agreement with Anwar - Rs. 2 Cr.
Other compensation amount that includes the damage Mohun Bagan suffered in the process - Rs. 2.5 Cr.
Added to the compensation amount, Delhi FC and East Bengal have been banned by the PSC from signing or registering any new players for the next two transfer windows, aka. for a year. This is an unprecedented instance to have happened in Indian football surrounding a transfer saga.
As per sources, the Mariners are content with this victory from a battle where they were blindsided a few months ago. As per Article 119 of the AIFF Disciplinary Code, Ranjit Bajaj and Co. can appeal within three days from the day they were notified of the decision.
From the time they appeal, they will get seven days to give the reasons for their appeal to AIFF in writing. The appeal will not be admitted if there is any failure to comply to any of these rules or a few more cited in the Disciplinary Code.
At this moment, this is a problem for Anwar, Delhi FC, and East Bengal as the season will begin on September 13. The Torch Bearers' first match is on September 14 against Bengaluru FC on the road. Anwar is an excellent addition to their team but if they have to pay a hefty amount and not be able to play him, it is a concerning thing for them.
