It is pretty clear that the Anwar Ali saga is far from being over and now it seems that it is being dragged even more. The latest date for the defenders' hearing was set to be held on September 30th, one of the Delhi FC counselors sent the committee request for a delayed date.
The counselor in question cited health issues. East Bengal already made notes that they would be unavailable on the date and now with Delhi FC saying the same, the meeting has now been postponed to October 14th. Additionally, the committee has given a stern warning that this is the final time it will be delayed.

PSC Statement:
A request for adjournment has been received by one of the counsels for Delhi FC seeking accommodation on personal grounds until 6th October 2024. Due to the grounds on which adjournment is sought, and in view of the non-availability already communicated by East Bengal counsel on the last date of the hearing; the hearing originally scheduled for 30th September 2024 is adjourned to provide an opportunity of hearing to all Parties.
The hearing is accordingly tentatively rescheduled for 14th October 2024 at 5 PM. It is clarified that no further adjournment shall be granted and in case of non-availability of counsels, then the parties are requested to make alternate arrangements of duly authorised counsels, failing which the matter shall be adjudicated in accordance with regulations. It is further clarified that there shall be no change in the deadline provided for submissions already communicated.
What Happens Now?
With the hearing delayed till October 14th, Anwar Ali will be able to play all of East Bengal's games till that date which is good news for them. Even if any party involved tries to play delay tactics later on, with PSC saying, 'no more delay', it won't work. Additionally, it is almost clear that the player, Delhi FC, and East Bengal will not be able to escape the punishment of hefty compensation and ban.
PSC previously said that the way Anwar Ali terminated his contract with his previous club, Mohun Bagan was 'unjust'. They announced a punishment of four months of ban on club games and a compensation of a total of Rs. 12.9 crores to Mohun Bagan from all three parties involved. The duration and compensation amount may change. However, there's no saying if it will be increased or reduced.
