Argentina's defending of the Copa America title starts with a Group A match against Canada in the Copa America 2024 on Friday (June 21).
After winning the continental title last year, Los Albicelestes will have the difficult task to replicate that. The tournament, expanded with 16 teams across two continents, will be hosted in the USA.

Argentina, having won the Copa America and World Cup in consecutive years, has a star-studded core group with some excellent players in their ranks. Their captain and legend Lionel Messi is set to lead the line and will definitely play a pivotal role in their title quest. On the other hand, the likes of Angel Di Maria, Emiliano Martinez and other players will be massively important as well for the Latin American giants.
Argentina head coach Lionel Scaloni is expected to name a strong squad for their match against Canada. In goal, Emiliano Martinez is set to start. Nahuel Molina is likely to start as right back, whereas Cristian Romero and Nicolas Otamendi are likely to be the centre back pairing for them. Marcos Acuna, who had a moderate season with Sevilla will be slotted as left back.
If Scaloni goes with a 4-3-3 formation, Leandro Paredes may be the central midfielder along with Alexis Mac Allister, while Rodrigo De Paul will have the offensive responsibilities ahead of them.
Lionel Messi is a certain starter and may be deployed either through the middle or on the right hand side. Angel Di Maria may get the nod ahead of Nicolas Gonzalez whereas Julian Alvarez looks set to feature as well.
