Arsenal Dominates Dinamo Zagreb With 3-0 Victory To Near Champions League Last 16

Arsenal's convincing 3-0 win over Dinamo Zagreb positions them for the Champions League last 16. Goals from Declan Rice, Kai Havertz, and Martin Odegaard highlight their strong performance.

Arsenal took a significant step towards the Champions League round of 16 with a decisive 3-0 victory over Dinamo Zagreb. Goals from Declan Rice, Kai Havertz, and Martin Odegaard at the Emirates Stadium brought Mikel Arteta's team within a point of securing their place in the top eight. This win places Arsenal third in the group standings.

In just two minutes, Arsenal made their mark when Havertz set up Rice for his first Champions League goal. Gabriel Martinelli's cross was expertly cushioned by Havertz into Rice's path, who volleyed it home. Despite efforts from Gabriel Magalhaes and Havertz, Dinamo struggled to pose any threat under Fabio Cannavaro's new management.

Arsenal Triumphs Over Dinamo Zagreb 3-0

Havertz found success again in the 66th minute, heading in another assist from Martinelli. Odegaard sealed the win during stoppage time by converting Leandro Trossard's deflected cross. Arsenal now need only a draw against Girona to ensure automatic progression to the last 16.

Meanwhile, Dinamo Zagreb faces an uphill battle as they must defeat AC Milan to have any hope of reaching the top 24. Their performance against Arsenal marked their first game without a shot on target since October 2016 against Sevilla.

The Gunners have been formidable at home, winning eight matches and keeping eight clean sheets since last season began. Rice's early goal was Arsenal’s quickest in the competition since Yaya Sanogo scored after just 72 seconds against Borussia Dortmund in November 2014.

This match also marked a milestone for Havertz as he both scored and assisted in a single Champions League game for the first time. His contributions were pivotal in maintaining Arsenal's strong home record.

As Arsenal looks ahead to their final league match against Girona, they remain focused on securing their spot in the next round. Their recent performances have solidified their reputation as one of the strongest teams at home in European competitions.
