Arsenal Secures Dominant 5-1 Victory Against Manchester City With Lewis-Skelly Scoring First Senior Goal

In a commanding performance, Arsenal defeated Manchester City 5-1, highlighted by Myles Lewis-Skelly's first senior goal. The Gunners' young talents shone brightly as they maintained pressure on league leaders Liverpool.

Arsenal closed the gap to six points behind Premier League leaders Liverpool with a commanding 5-1 victory over Manchester City. Myles Lewis-Skelly scored his first senior goal, contributing to the Gunners' impressive win. Lewis-Skelly, who had his suspension overturned after being sent off against Wolves, scored just past the hour mark. Fellow teenager Ethan Nwaneri also found the net as Arsenal dominated the second half.

Manchester City faced an early setback, conceding within 103 seconds of kick-off. John Stones' pass put Manuel Akanji under pressure, leading to Kai Havertz setting up Martin Odegaard for a simple finish. Havertz missed another chance to extend Arsenal's lead midway through the first half. City equalised ten minutes into the second half when Erling Haaland headed in Savinho's cross.

Arsenal Beats Manchester City 5-1 in Premier League

Arsenal quickly regained their advantage just 38 seconds after City's equaliser. Phil Foden's pass was intercepted by Thomas Partey, whose long-range shot deflected off Stones and into the net. Five minutes later, Lewis-Skelly scored his first Premier League goal with a curling shot past Stefan Ortega, celebrating with Haaland's famous meditation pose.

Kai Havertz added to Arsenal's tally with a swift counter-attack goal, making it 4-1. Substitute Nwaneri sealed the victory with a stunning left-footed strike in stoppage time. This result keeps Arsenal in contention with Liverpool, who have a game in hand against Everton in nine days. Meanwhile, City remain fourth and risk dropping further if Chelsea beat West Ham on Monday.

This season marks the fourth time Manchester City have conceded four or more goals in a single match under Pep Guardiola. Their defensive lapses were evident as they committed eight errors leading to goals this campaign—the most during Guardiola's tenure at City.

The young talents of Arsenal shone brightly as both Lewis-Skelly and Nwaneri scored crucial goals. This match marked only the fourth instance where two players aged 18 or younger scored for one team in a Premier League game since April 2007 when Everton faced Fulham.

Nwaneri and Lewis-Skelly became the youngest players to score against reigning champions since Wayne Rooney did so for Everton against Arsenal in March 2003. Nwaneri has now scored seven Premier League goals at just 17 years old; only Michael Owen and Rooney have more at that age for one club.
