Arsenal's Important Win Over Dinamo Zagreb Boosts Automatic Qualification Hopes In Champions League

Declan Rice hailed Arsenal's commanding 3-0 victory against Dinamo Zagreb as crucial for their automatic qualification hopes in the Champions League. The win followed a disappointing draw against Aston Villa and showcased the team's resilience and determination.

Arsenal secured a crucial 3-0 victory over Dinamo Zagreb, bouncing back from their recent Premier League setback. Declan Rice praised the team's performance in the Champions League after they drew 2-2 with Aston Villa, despite leading 2-0 at home. The win against Dinamo brought Arsenal closer to securing automatic qualification for the round of 16.

Rice scored his first Champions League goal, while Kai Havertz and Martin Odegaard also found the net. "It was an important win tonight," Rice told TNT Sports. "We need to keep winning games. I think the game at the weekend [against Aston Villa was] a real kick in the teeth. We should be seeing it out, but to bounce back tonight and win [was crucial]."

Arsenal's Win Enhances Champions League Prospects

The midfielders' contributions were pivotal, with Rice and Odegaard scoring after well-timed runs into the box. Rice emphasised the importance of midfielders contributing goals, stating that Arteta has been urging them to make those extra yards count. "The manager has been on us really hard about midfielders arriving because so many goals can come from there," he added.

Odegaard echoed this sentiment: "[Arteta's] always pushing us to be better, and we want goals from the midfielders, and I haven't been good enough there this season." He acknowledged their improved positioning in attack as vital for success.

Despite recent challenges, Rice remains optimistic about Arsenal's Champions League campaign. He noted that they have one more match against Girona and expressed hope for another victory. "It's been a tough month, but [we must] keep being positive, and we go again," he said.

Odegaard shared his satisfaction with their current position: "We needed that [win]. We've put ourselves in a really good situation now. It was a good and solid win, so I'm very happy." The team is focused on continuous improvement and maintaining their competitive edge.

The determination within the squad is evident as players strive to enhance their performances after any slip-ups. Odegaard highlighted this mentality: "Every time we drop points, everyone comes in the next day even more hungry and even more ready to go again."
