Mikel Arteta, the manager of Arsenal, expressed satisfaction after Myles Lewis-Skelly's red card was overturned. However, he criticised the abuse directed at referee Michael Oliver. During Saturday's match against Wolves, Lewis-Skelly was sent off for a high challenge on Matt Doherty. Despite the VAR upholding the decision, Arsenal secured a 1-0 victory following Joao Gomes' dismissal.
The Professional Game Match Officials Limited (PGMOL) revealed that police are investigating threats made against Oliver online. On Tuesday, the Football Association announced that Arsenal successfully appealed against Lewis-Skelly's three-match suspension. Arteta welcomed this outcome but emphasised the need to eliminate abuse towards officials in football.

Arteta stressed the importance of creating a positive social environment in football. "Obviously (we are) really happy that the decision has been made and Myles is going to be available for us," Arteta stated during a press conference ahead of Arsenal's Champions League match against Girona. He highlighted how abuse tarnishes the sport and called for efforts to remove it.
Arteta believes football should focus on its evolution over the next five years. He sees an opportunity to foster a better social atmosphere within the sport. "Every time I talk about (abuse towards) a player, a coach, it doesn't matter. We have to try hard to eradicate it from the game," he said.
Arsenal will face Girona in their final group stage match of Europe's top club competition. Girona is already out of contention for advancing after losing six of their seven games. Arteta praised Girona's journey and vision, noting their competitive spirit despite not achieving desired results.
Currently third in their Champions League group with 16 points, Arsenal needs just a draw to secure their spot in the last 16 and avoid additional play-off matches. Arteta acknowledged past near-misses with major titles and stressed the importance of earning qualification through performance.
"We have been very close to big titles in the last few years but that's very difficult in football," Arteta remarked. He emphasised that securing advancement requires effort and focus in their upcoming match.
