Arsenal's manager Mikel Arteta has cautioned Liverpool about the challenges of maintaining their current lead in the Premier League. Despite being eight points ahead of Manchester City and nine points clear of Arsenal, Arteta believes that Liverpool's position is not secure. He emphasised that injuries could impact their form at any time.
Arteta reflected on Arsenal's own experience with a similar lead in March 2023. He noted how quickly things can change, saying, "Well, yes, we've been there."

He highlighted the difficulty of sustaining such an advantage over a long season and acknowledged that unexpected events could alter the course.
Liverpool are currently leading the Premier League with an eight-point cushion over Manchester City. They have won 10 out of their 12 matches this season. This weekend, they have the opportunity to extend their lead further if they secure a victory against City at Anfield.
Arteta remains confident in his team's ability to challenge Liverpool's dominance. When asked about Arsenal's potential to close the gap, he expressed faith in his squad: "I really believe in my team, yes." His confidence stems from Arsenal being level on points with Chelsea, who are third in the table.
Arteta pointed out that maintaining a lead for ten months requires everything to align perfectly. He warned that unforeseen factors like injuries or unexpected results could disrupt Liverpool's momentum at any moment. "And sadly, when you think that you have it, one day, plop, it collapses," he remarked.
Despite acknowledging Liverpool's strong position, Arteta stressed the importance of focusing on what Arsenal can control. He stated that their best effort is crucial in navigating through the challenges of the season.
When questioned about Manchester City's capabilities despite their injury concerns, Arteta had no doubts about their quality. He praised City's performance metrics and insisted they deserve to win every game based on their statistics and gameplay.
"You look at all the stats and everything that they do; they are always better than the opposition," Arteta said.
The Gunners will be aiming to continue their winning spree as they take on fellow Londoners West Ham United on Saturday.
