Arsenal's Jonas Eidevall Outlines Full-Throttle Strategy For Champions League Opener Against Bayern Munich

Jonas Eidevall emphasises a full-throttle approach as Arsenal prepares to face Bayern Munich in the Champions League. The team aims to build on their recent performances while addressing past challenges.

Jonas Eidevall is determined for Arsenal to make a strong start in the Champions League against Bayern Munich. Arsenal recently secured their place in the group stage after overcoming Hacken with a 4-1 aggregate win, despite losing the first leg. After missing out last year, they return to a group featuring Juventus and Valerenga. Previously, Arsenal defeated Bayern to reach the semi-finals.

Eidevall is excited about the upcoming challenge against Bayern on Wednesday. He plans to push his team as hard in the Champions League as he does in the Women’s Super League. "For me, the Champions League is very special," Eidevall stated when discussing his priorities. Competing in four tournaments, he emphasised that both the league and European competition hold significant importance for him and his squad.

Eidevall's Strategy for Bayern Clash

In domestic play, Arsenal remain unbeaten in the Women's Super League but have only won one of their three matches so far. Their recent game ended in a frustrating 0-0 draw against Everton. Despite having 21 shots, only five were on target, resulting in an expected goals tally of just 0.74 and hitting the post once.

Eidevall expressed frustration over their lack of finishing against Everton but praised their defensive performance. "We are putting such high standards on ourselves," he said, noting their solid defensive display and effective pressing during that match. He hopes this defensive strength continues as they face Bayern's potent attack.

Bayern Munich have been prolific this season, scoring 18 goals in their first five Frauen-Bundesliga games. Eidevall acknowledged Bayern's strengths, particularly their counter-attacking speed and set-piece organisation. However, he also believes they have weaknesses that Arsenal can exploit.

The Gunners aim to maintain their defensive solidity while improving their attacking efficiency against Bayern's formidable side. As they prepare for this crucial match, Eidevall remains focused on balancing both domestic and European commitments with equal intensity.
