Arsenal's captain, Martin Odegaard, encouraged his team to channel the disappointment of their recent Champions League semi-final loss to Paris Saint-Germain into motivation for future success. Arsenal fell 2-1 at Parc des Princes, with Bukayo Saka scoring a late goal after PSG had taken control through Fabian Ruiz and Achraf Hakimi. Despite missing key chances, Arsenal showed resilience throughout the match.
Arsenal's performance was highlighted by an xG of 3.14, the highest against PSG in this season's Champions League. They also managed 19 shots, their most in a knockout game since facing Barcelona in March 2016. However, missed opportunities by Saka and Declan Rice proved costly. David Raya saved a penalty from Vitinha in the second half, while Gianluigi Donnarumma made several crucial saves early on.

Speaking to TNT Sports, Odegaard expressed mixed feelings about the match: "We gave it a proper go. We started the game really well. We were on the front foot, had the momentum, a few big chances but in the end it wasn't enough." He acknowledged that while Arsenal controlled play between the boxes, they lacked strength where it mattered most.
Odegaard further noted that despite dominating possession and creating chances, Arsenal failed to capitalise in critical moments: "In front of goal is where games are decided and that's where we have to be sharper." He emphasised learning from this experience to improve their future performances.
This semi-final marked Arsenal's first appearance at this stage since the 2008-09 season. It was also their 201st match in the competition without securing a trophy win. Meanwhile, PSG joined Bayer Leverkusen (2001-02) and Juventus (2002-03) as teams reaching a final after losing five matches en route.
The defeat was painful for Arsenal as they aimed for significant achievements both domestically and in Europe. Odegaard stressed unity and resilience: "Massive disappointment but we have to stay strong and together." He urged his teammates to use this setback as a stepping stone for future success.
Despite not reaching their ultimate goal this time around, Arsenal's journey provided valuable lessons. Odegaard remains optimistic about using these experiences positively: "Take the lessons, take the pain and use it to come back stronger." The team is determined to sharpen their skills and return more formidable next season.
