Arsenal eye loan deal for Barcelona misfit Malcom

Barcelona are dithering about Malcom’s long-term future and would demand £50million for him if they sell, a fee Arsenal would consider paying.

Bengaluru, January 28: Arsenal are on alert for Barcelona’s Brazilian misfit Malcom and hoping for developments before the transfer deadline day.

The Gunners have asked Barcelona to let them have attacking star Malcom on loan during their talks over midfielder Denis Suarez.

Barcelona manager Ernesto Valverde has been ignoring former Bordeaux star Malcom, 21, this season but the club hierarchy still rate him highly and are reluctant to lose him.

That may open the door for a loan before the window shuts to keep him sharp for a return in the summer, while also putting the winger in the shop window to keep his value up.

Barcelona are dithering about Malcom’s long-term future and would demand £50million for him if they sell, a fee Arsenal would consider paying.

AC Milan have also inquired about borrowing the player. That is a situation Barcelona could consider or even a loan deal to a lesser Spanish rival.

But, a move to the Emirates, if he gets the promise of playing on a regular basis, could also work for Barca and the player, with Unai Emery’s Arsenal crossing their fingers for the green light.

Meanwhile, Spain winger Suarez, 25, could also be set for an Emirates loan move as his long-term future at the Nou Camp is clearly in doubt.

The Gunners are also being linked with Villarreal midfielder Pablo Fornals. The 22-year-old is thought to have a £28.5m release clause with the La Liga strugglers.

The Spaniard, capped twice, has notched three goals this season, including a 40-yard volley and also has four assists this term.

Emery previously stated that Arsenal will not be able to sign anyone on permanent basis in January and can only sign players on loan deals which scuppered their hopes of landing Denis Suarez.
