Arsenal's Declan Rice Vows To Keep Fighting Despite Title Hopes Fading After Draw With Manchester United

Despite a disappointing draw against Manchester United, Declan Rice affirms Arsenal's commitment to fight for the Premier League title until it is mathematically impossible. The Gunners are currently 15 points behind Liverpool.

Declan Rice remains optimistic about Arsenal's title chances, despite their recent draw against Manchester United. Arsenal came from behind to secure a 1-1 draw at Old Trafford, with Rice scoring in the second half to equalise Bruno Fernandes' free-kick. However, Arsenal now trails Liverpool by 15 points, with only one game in hand. Liverpool needs just 16 more points to clinch the title.

Arsenal struggled to create clear opportunities, managing an expected goals (xG) of 1.61 compared to United's 1.65. Despite having 17 shots and facing only 10, they couldn't capitalise effectively. Speaking post-match, Rice expressed disappointment over Arsenal's lack of attacking sharpness, especially after their recent 7-1 victory over PSV in the Champions League.

Arsenal's Rice Commits to Fight for Title

Rice emphasised that Arsenal will continue fighting for the Premier League title until it's mathematically impossible. He acknowledged Liverpool's impressive form but remained hopeful about Arsenal's prospects. "We'll keep going until the end of the season," he stated, acknowledging Liverpool's strong performance this year.

Mikel Arteta was critical of his team's performance, particularly their inability to finish chances. He noted that they risked losing late on when David Raya made a crucial save from Fernandes. Arteta told Sky Sports that while they had promising situations, they failed to deliver the final shot or pass.

Arsenal was unhappy with Fernandes' goal due to referee Anthony Taylor setting up their wall more than 10 yards from the ball. Rice commented on this decision but refused to use it as an excuse for their performance. "That's where the line was sprayed," he said, adding that they felt the ball flew over them at a low height.

The Gunners are closer in points to Fulham than league leaders Liverpool and face a strong chance of seeing Liverpool secure the title before their visit to Anfield on May 10. Despite injuries impacting their squad, Rice remains confident in Arsenal's resilience and ability to persevere through challenges.

Arteta defended his players but stressed the need for improvement in certain areas. He criticised how they conceded chances and highlighted their opponents' quality in picking out key players for potential goalscoring opportunities.
