Arsenal receive double injury boost

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger will reportedly have both Aaron Ramsey and Alex Iwobi at his disposal after the international break as they will look to bounce back from consecutive defeats.

Bengaluru, September 3: Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger will reportedly have both Aaron Ramsey and Alex Iwobi at his disposal after the international break.

The Gunners will return to action on September 9 when they host Bournemouth at the Emirates, while that will be quickly followed by their opening Europa League game on September 14 against FC Koln.

Wenger will need a big squad to choose from in order to thrive under the pressure of playing games on a quick succession. Also, the Gunners will be keen to get back to winning ways after two back to back defeats in the Premier League.

In truth, it’s probably questionable as to whether or not the majority of Arsenal supporters see this as a boost as both players in question, particularly Ramsey, receive their fair share of criticism.

Nevertheless, options and depth are always nice things to have especially when you have Europa League to play in. With Europa League, Arsenal will have to play around 55-60 games this year if they go a long way in the competition and without a big squad, it won’t be easy to manage.

Ramsey was substituted at half-time during the defeat to Liverpool last weekend due to a slight calf problem and so his status will depend on how he comes through the international break with Wales as he’s expected to play for Chris Coleman’s side, while Iwobi has been sidelined by a thigh muscle strain but looks to be on his way back.

The international break could not have come on a better time for Arsenal. They were utterly humiliated by Liverpool in the last game and Wenger can use the break to reconsider his tactics and find out what is going wrong. There is plenty of football to be played and Arsenal fans will hope that they can bounce back.
