Both Premier League giants Liverpool and Arsenal have been handed a huge boost in their pursuit of Monaco winger Thomas Lemar as according to reports the Frenchman has rejected a new contract offer.

London, Feb 8: Both Premier League giants Liverpool and Arsenal have been handed a huge boost in their pursuit of Monaco winger Thomas Lemar as according to reports the Frenchman has rejected a new contract offer from Ligue 1 side in order to move from his side.

The winger has been drawing interest from various suitors since the Summer and at a point of time in the Summer, it was believed that the player was on his way to Anfield in a big money move.

However, the deal collapsed but the speculation again regenerated window when in a last-ditch attempt Arsenal also tried to lure the player to Emirates as a replacement for Alexis Sanchez who then looked set to join Manchester City.

However, Monaco's vice-president later openly made a declaration that the player won't be sold at any cost this year which all but confirmed their stance on the player.

However, now as per reports, Lemar whose contract runs down till 2020, has rejected a new contract proposal from the defending Ligue 1 champions paving the way for a big money move to the Premier League at the end of the season and now his decision could make Monaco encashing on the player in next Summer who is priced at around £90million by the French side.

Lemar has established himself as one of the brightest prospects in World football last season when he scored 14 goals and provided 17 assists to help his team win the first Ligue 1 title in the last 17 years and to reach the Champions League semi-finals.

The player although has been struggling this season with consistent injury issues and only made 15 league appearances however still has managed to score 2 goals and four assists in the process. The player is currently sidelined for two weeks with a thigh injury.
