The African Cup of Nations (AFCON) and the AFC Asian Cup are set to start within a couple of days.
The continental tournaments in the middle of a regular European domestic season means clubs will have to deal with the absence of certain players due to national duty, and Premier League clubs are going through it.

A total of 39 players have left across 17 Premier League clubs to take part in either AFCON or the Asian Cup. Three clubs of the top-tier English league have no representatives, but some big names will concentrate on their country for the upcoming few weeks.
Among the 39 players who have left the Premier League for national duty, only 8 will be playing in the AFC Asian Cup which is being held in Qatar, while the remaining 31 have gone to Ivory Coast (Cote d'Ivoire) to take part in the AFCON.
It is neither Manchester United or Chelsea or Arsenal - it is Nottingham Forest who have the most number of players leaving to play in the tournaments. Six Forest players have left, all of them will take part in the AFCON.
Three Cote d'Ivoire players are in their squad, while two will represent Senegal and a solitary player from Nigeria.
Manchester City are among three Premier League clubs who don't have any AFCON or Asian Cup representatives. Along with Man City, Burnley and Newcastle United are the other teams to not have any players in the two competitions.
Manchester City and Newcastle United have no African or Asian players in their squads. Burnley striker Lyle Foster is from South Africa, who didn't qualify for the AFCON, whereas their Moroccan winger Anass Zaroury was not selected in the squad.
