Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta was 'amazed' after Declan Rice was sent off in their Premier League match against Brighton on Saturday (August 31).
In the early stages of the 2nd half, Declan Rice was shown a second Yellow by Chris Kavanagh for the meagrest of reasons and was subsequently sent off.

Rice committed a foul and as the Brighton player attempted a quick free kick, he just nudged the ball away. The kick from the Brighton man put Rice on the floor but it was the Arsenal player who was then penalized for his actions and was handed the marching orders.
Although Rice made a mistake, it was a dangerous kick from the Brighton player as well, but he was not even shown a Yellow by the referee. Arsenal were held to a 1-1 draw at the Emirates, thus losing their winning streak in the league.
After the match, Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta was asked about the Red card and the Spaniard says he was amazed by the decision.
"I was amazed. Amazed, amazed, amazed because of how inconsistent decisions can be. In the first half, there were two incidents and nothing happened. Then, in a non-critical area, the ball hits Declan, he turns around, doesn't see the player coming and touches the ball. By law, he can make that call, but by law then he needs to make the next call which is a red card. So we play 10 against 11. This amazed me, at this level," Arteta said at the post-match press conference.
Rice, who suffered the first Red in his career, will now be out of the North London derby at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. But the Gunners manager believes it will be opportunity for other players to showcase their skills in the crunch encounter.
"This is what happens. We have other players that can fulfil and we can give an opportunity to someone else," the Arsenal manager added.
