Arsenal midfielder Francis Coquelin sidelined for 3 weeks

By Ians English

London, Sep 27: Arsenal head coach Arsene Wenger on Tuesday confirmed that midfielder Francis Coquelin has been ruled out for around three weeks of football action with a knee injury.

Coquelin was forced to leave the field in the 32nd minute of Arsenal's 3-0 victory over Chelsea at the Emirates stadium here on Saturday, after he was hurt in a challenge with N'Golo Kante.

The 25-year-old will sit out Arsenal's Champions League home game against Basel on Wednesday and Sunday's English Premier League trip to Burnley, but Wenger will hope to have him available again for the visit of Swansea on October 15, after the international break.

"He is out for the game tomorrow, but it should be a short-term injury because the scan was quite positive and I think it will be three weeks out," Wenger said in a statement on Arsenal's website.

Wenger also said that striker Oliver Giroud may miss the contest against Burnley with a toe injury.

"He is not available (for game against Basel), he is suspended because he was sent off at PSG. He is a doubt for Sunday, we will see," Wenger said.
