Mikel Arteta feels he has significantly improved Arsenal since joining, yet acknowledges the necessity of securing a major trophy. Last season, Arsenal secured second place in the Premier League for the third time in a row and reached their first Champions League semi-final since 2008. Arteta has strengthened his squad for the 2025-26 season by signing Viktor Gyokeres, Martin Zubimendi, and Noni Madueke.
Despite winning the FA Cup in his debut season in 2020, Arteta has not clinched any major titles since. He emphasised that winning a significant trophy is crucial to demonstrate Arsenal's progress over recent years. "I give my passion, my energy, my knowledge and everything I have to give to this club," Arteta expressed to ESPN Brasil.

The Spaniard believes that Arsenal has evolved considerably under his leadership. "I believe we have transformed this club from where it was to where it is today," he stated. Over the past three years, Arsenal has accumulated more points than any other team in the Premier League.
Arteta highlighted that while Arsenal has made substantial strides, winning a major title remains essential. "But we still need to win a major title. That's what we're missing because the rest is done," he noted. The connection with fans has also improved significantly during his tenure.
Arteta acknowledged that Arsenal is currently among Europe's elite teams but stressed the importance of achieving tangible success. "There's no doubt that Arsenal is one of the best teams in Europe at the moment, but we still need to seal that achievement," he remarked.
The upcoming season promises excitement due to the high calibre of teams and overall league competitiveness. Arteta is optimistic about what lies ahead as he continues to build on Arsenal's recent successes and aims for further accomplishments.
