Odegaard Asserts Arsenal Can Reach New Heights In Title Race Against Liverpool

Martin Odegaard expresses confidence that Arsenal can improve their performance as they aim to close the gap on Premier League leaders Liverpool. He highlights the team's unbeaten run and his desire to contribute more goals as the season progresses.

Martin Odegaard believes Arsenal can elevate their performance as they aim to catch up with Premier League leaders Liverpool. Arsenal, under Mikel Arteta, have accumulated 47 points from 23 games and are currently in second place. They are preparing to face Manchester City at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday. Odegaard is optimistic about challenging Arne Slot's Reds for the title after finishing just two points behind City last season.

Arsenal's captain expressed confidence in their current standing but feels there's room for improvement. "For the team, we're in a good position," Odegaard told The Mirror. "But still I feel like we have another gear, another step that we can take, and hopefully we can hit that top form now until the end of the season." He recalled how they found their stride towards the end of last season and hopes for a similar finish this time.

Odegaard: Arsenal Can Reach New Heights

The Gunners are enjoying a 13-match unbeaten run in the Premier League, with eight wins and five draws. Since matchday 11, they have secured more points than any other team, amassing 29 points. This streak is the longest under Arteta's management, surpassing their previous record of 14 unbeaten games set between August and December 2018 under Unai Emery.

Odegaard also aims to increase his goal tally in the upcoming months. Reflecting on his performance this season, he admitted, "[Goals have] been something that I haven't been good enough with this season." Last season, he scored 15 goals and provided seven assists in the Premier League. In contrast, this term has seen him score only once and assist three times due to an ankle injury.

The Norwegian international acknowledged his need to be more clinical in front of goal. "I feel like I've been in enough situations and created a lot for others, but I haven't been clinical enough with the finishing," he said. He is determined to improve his finishing skills as the season progresses.

As Arsenal prepare for their crucial match against Manchester City, Odegaard's leadership and ambition will be vital. The team hopes to maintain their momentum and challenge for the title as they enter the final stretch of the season.
