Arsenal have secured their first piece of silverware of the season with a victory over Manchester City in the FA Community Shield on Sunday (August 6). The Gunners lifted their 17th Community Shield on Sunday and now ranked 2nd in the all-time history of Community Shield winners.
Substitute Cole Palmer appeared to have won it for City in normal time after a fine curling finish, only for a last-gasp Manuel Akanji own goal to earn Arsenal a 1-1 draw and take the game to a shoot-out.

The Gunners scored all of their spot-kicks while Kevin De Bruyne fired against the bar and Rodri's tame effort was saved by Gunners keeper Aaron Ramsdale.
Erling Haaland had a quiet afternoon in this fixture but his replacement, Palmer, had appeared set to add another trophy to the brimming cabinet at the Etihad Stadium. Arsenal had their moments and scored a late equalizer in the 101st minute as Leandro Trossard's deflected shot went in.
Fabio Vieira then converted the winning penalty in the shoot-out, handing the Gunners a 4-1 win and thus their first silverware of the season.
The North London club lost the Premier League title last season to Manchester City despite being on top of the table for 248 days. The Cityzens not only just won the league, but also triumphed in FA Cup and won their first Champions League to finish with a treble.
"We are here to win trophies. It's a joy to see so many happy and proud people, and the connection with our supporters in Wembley feels very different," Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta said after the match.
The Gunners will be hoping to do one better in the league as they kickstart their campaign against Nottingham Forest on Saturday (August 12) at the Emirates Stadium.
