Arsenal have bolstered their squad with the acquisition of winger Noni Madueke from Chelsea. The 23-year-old has signed a five-year contract with Mikel Arteta's team for an initial fee of £48.5 million, potentially rising with add-ons. This marks Arsenal's fourth signing this summer, following Martin Zubimendi, Christian Norgaard, and Kepa Arrizabalaga, who also joined from Chelsea.
Madueke's time at Chelsea saw him make 92 appearances across all competitions since joining from PSV in January 2023. During his stint, he netted 19 goals and provided seven assists, with most contributions occurring in the 2024-25 season. In the Premier League last year, only Cole Palmer surpassed Madueke's 45 completed dribbles for Chelsea.

While at Stamford Bridge, Madueke played a key role in Chelsea's success in the Conference League and Club World Cup. However, he departed early from the latter to finalise his move to Arsenal. Enzo Maresca hinted at Madueke's transfer before Chelsea's 3-0 victory over Paris Saint-Germain in the final.
Chelsea had already reinforced their attack by signing Joao Pedro, Jamie Gittens, and Liam Delap earlier in the transfer window. Before confirming his switch to Arsenal, Madueke shared an emotional farewell on social media. "I want to thank you for the last three or so years," he expressed on Instagram.
"To every staff member that helped me along this journey, thank you," Madueke continued. "To my teammates thank you for everything; I leave with only love and admiration for you guys." He also praised Enzo Maresca: "It was a privilege to play under you; thank you for trying to better me as a player and as a person."
The winger debuted for England in September 2024 and has since earned seven caps. Arsenal are reportedly pursuing Sporting CP’s Viktor Gyokeres and Valencia’s Cristhian Mosquera as they aim to improve on their second-place finish last season—their third consecutive runner-up spot.
The Gunners will kick off their Premier League campaign against Manchester United on August 17. Madueke is set to face his former club when Arsenal visit Stamford Bridge on November 29.
Madueke concluded his message by thanking Chelsea fans: "Thank you for the love, praise, and criticism; I appreciate it all." He leaves with fond memories of his time at Stamford Bridge.
