New Delhi, Aug 12: It has been all good for Arsenal so far this summer in the transfer market having acquired players like Sead Kolasinac and Alexandre Lacazette and also keeping Alexis Sanchez. Meanwhile, there is another piece of good news for the Gooners around the world.
Arsenal are reported to be confident that they've made a major breakthrough in contract talks with Mesut Ozil, with terms possibly being agreed on a new deal.
Speculation over the futures of the likes of Ozil, Alexis Sanchez and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain have dominated Arsenal headlines for months, with all three having just 12 months left in their contract and it seems that Ozil is likely to alleviate Arsene Wenger's concerns.
It is claimed that the German international has given the Gunners the impression that he's ready to accept a new contract offer worth £225,000-a-week to commit his future to the club.
Arsene Wenger has remained confident throughout that none of his stars would be leaving, and it seems as though he'll be proven right with Ozil at least as the report adds that there hasn't been any concrete interest from around Europe given the figures being demanded by the 28-year-old.
Ozil is expected to feature against Leicester City in the much-awaited season opener on Friday night, and he may well be on the verge of handing the north London giants a timely boost with confirmation that he's ready to commit his future.
Naturally, the wait will go on until it's officially announced, but it's always been felt as though the former Real Madrid man would be the easier task out of the group in question to persuade to sign a new deal, especially with no real competition for his signature emerging.
That has seemingly now come to fruition, and all concerned at Arsenal will certainly be hoping that Sanchez follows suit in the coming weeks, as his future is undoubtedly the more complicated of the two.
