Bengaluru, March 19: Real Madrid superstar Luka Modric could be sensationally on his way back to North London with Arsenal looking to snap up the former Tottenham star.

Reports in Spain claim that the Gunners are interested in the Real Madrid maestro as they look to revamp their midfield in the summer.

It is being reported in Spain that Modric could be cashed in by Real Madrid in the summer due to his age and they want a new-look midfield for the future.

According to El Gol Digital, Arsene Wenger's side are willing to fork out £53million to prise the 32-year-old away from Santiago Bernabeu.

The same report also claims that Zinedine Zidane is eyeing up a move to bring Liverpool's contract rebel Emre Can to Spain as his potential replacement.

Juventus are believed to be leading the race to sign the German international as he refuses to extend his stay at Anfield beyond the end of the season.

Modric is tied down with the Champions League holders until 2020, but could be tempted back by the Premier League - to his former club's fiercest rivals.

Even though the Croat is now 32 years of age, it will still be a huge surprise if Real Madrid sell him considering the fact that Modric still is one of the best players in his role.

Arsenal have a tricky situation in their hands with their midfield department far from sorted.

Jack Wilshere's future at the Emirates remains uncertain, while Welsh ace Aaron Ramsey has been linked to Chelsea recently.

Question marks still remain over Swiss international Granit Xhaka, while Santi Cazorla remains sidelined and hasn't featured since October 2016.

It would be a major coup for Wenger should Arsenal acquire the services of Modric - who spent four seasons at White Hart Lane.

The FA Cup holders are also reportedly in the hunt to sign AC Milan striker Andre Silva, but face stern competition from Championship leaders Wolves who are on the verge of winning promotion to the Premier League.
