London, August 3: Arsenal are considering a bid for OGC Nice midfielder Jean Michael Seri according to reports in England. The Gunners are reportedly weighing up a £35 million bid for the Ivorian midfield dynamo as Arsene Wenger wants to bolster his squad to a great extent.
Local rivals Spurs are also big fans of the 26-year-old but Arsenal are in pole position to land their man, according to the French media.
The Nice midfielder was one of the stars of Ligue 1 last season as his side OGC Nice surprisingly secured a place in Champions League playoffs.
While, It is believed that Nice will do everything to retain their in demand player if they can manage to book a place for themselves in the group stage of the Champions League.
Seri was excellent for his side last campaign bagging seven goals and nine assists, and due to his combative play, he has been likened to Chelsea's N'Golo Kante.
Skillful and with a keen eye for a pass, the Ivorian central midfielder would add much-need dynamism to an area of the pitch where Arsenal are high on quantity but perhaps a little low on quality in the absence of Spanish maestro Santi Cazorla.
A midfielder who is extremely industrious and combative, Seri would be a massive reinforcement to the Arsenal midfield who lack steel in that area.
Arsenal have already signed Alexandre Lacazette from Lyon and Sead Kolasinac from Schalke this summer but since then, they have found life hard in the transfer market. Monaco are refusing to sell Thomas Lemar to Arsenal and the arrival of Seri is also a uncertain at the moment.
Premier League kicks off next week with Arsenal hosting Leicester City on the opening day and Wenger would like to add Seri before the window shuts in order to achieve success this season after the back of a season of utter disappointment.
