Cristhian Mosquera has hinted at his exit from Valencia, with a move to Arsenal in the Premier League on the horizon. Reports surfaced on Monday indicating that Arsenal has secured a deal for the Spanish defender, who is expected to sign a five-year contract with the Gunners. The transfer fee for the 21-year-old is reportedly £13 million plus additional clauses.
Mosquera is set to become Mikel Arteta's fourth acquisition this summer. Arsenal has already signed Kepa Arrizabalaga, Christian Norgaard, and Martin Zubimendi. They are also nearing agreements for Noni Madueke from Chelsea and Viktor Gyokeres from Sporting CP, potentially pushing their summer expenditure past £200 million.

Last season, Mosquera was instrumental for Valencia, completing more passes (1,822) than any other player in LaLiga. He ranked third in aerial duels won (32) within his team. Only Jose Gaya (40) and Cesar Tarrega (37) surpassed him in tackles won, with Mosquera achieving 36 successful tackles.
Mosquera joined Valencia's academy in 2016 and debuted in a Copa del Rey match against CD Atletico Baleares. Over his time there, he made 90 appearances across various competitions. In an interview with Marca, he expressed mixed emotions about leaving Valencia, which he considers home.
"I arrived when I was 12, and now I'm leaving as a grown man," Mosquera stated. He bid farewell to his teammates on Monday and shared his feelings: "I'm a little sad because I've been here my whole life, but decisions in football are like that. Now, a new era begins."
While Mosquera did not confirm his next club explicitly, he acknowledged the excitement and sadness of this transition. His move marks another step in Arsenal's efforts to strengthen their squad under Arteta's leadership.
Valencia finished 12th last season under Carlos Corberan. Despite the team's mid-table finish, Mosquera's individual performances stood out as he contributed significantly both defensively and offensively throughout the campaign.
As Arsenal prepares for the upcoming season, Mosquera's addition could enhance their defensive options. His experience in LaLiga might provide valuable depth to Arteta’s squad as they aim for success domestically and in European competitions this year.
