London, July 20: Schalke star Leon Goretzka is a wanted man this summer and the latest club to have entered the race for the German sensation are Arsenal.
The Gunners are lining up a summer move for Schalke midfielder Leon Goretzka, though face stiff competition from Bayern Munich for a player who only has one year left on his contract.

The two clubs did battle on the pitch on Wednesday (July 19) as Arsenal claimed a victory by a penalty shootout in Shanghai, and they could be about to land another blow if Arsene Wenger gets his way.
According to German outlet 'SportBild', the French coach has been secretly watching Goretzka for months and hopes to sign him before the window closes, though striking a deal with Schake will be very difficult.
Although the 22-year-old will be free to negotiate a pre-contract agreement with other clubs come January, the German side are happy to lose him for free next summer rather than selling him now.
Bayern Munich want exactly that like they did for Robert Lewansowski from Borussia Dortmund a few years back. Ancelotti is an admirer of Goretzka and wants him next season but Arsenal are trying their best to tempt the 22-year-old.
Arsene Wenger is a huge fan of the midfielder, who was the star for Germany in their Confederations Cup triumph.
Sporting director Christian Heidel insists the club will not be bullied into selling, but an offer in the excess of €30 million (£26.5m) could be enough to persuade them to do a deal.
Arsenal and Bayern are not the only clubs interested in Goretzka, with Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp a long-time admirer and Manchester City coach Pep Guardiola blown away by his displays in Russia at the Confederations Cup are also keen.
Even Real Madrid are in the mix for the German midfield dynamo.
Schalke have offered the powerhouse midfielder a €8m-a-year salary to try and ward off the growing number of suitors, although he believes €10m is the minimum he should be earning.
