Takehiro Tomiyasu and Arsenal have decided to part ways, ending his contract immediately. Initially, his contract was due to expire at the end of the next season. However, Tomiyasu chose to leave earlier. Since joining from Bologna in August 2021, injuries have plagued his time at Arsenal, affecting his availability on the field.
Tomiyasu's tenure at Arsenal saw him sidelined frequently due to knee issues. Over the past two years, he required surgery twice. He missed the start of the 2024-25 season and had another operation in February. His recovery from this surgery could have kept him out for up to five more months.

In an Instagram post, Tomiyasu expressed gratitude after four memorable years at Arsenal. "Obviously, I have got many things to say, but the thing that I want to tell you guys the most is just thank you for the love you guys gave me," he shared. He cherished his time with teammates and staff and felt honoured representing Arsenal.
He thanked supporters for their unwavering support both on and off the pitch. "I will never forget it, and it will stay in me forever," he stated. Reflecting on shared memories with teammates, he acknowledged their qualities as players and individuals.
During his time at Arsenal, Tomiyasu made 84 appearances across all competitions. Unfortunately, he played only once in the 2024-25 season for six minutes. As they move forward, Arsenal are seeking defensive reinforcements and are reportedly interested in Valencia's Cristhian Mosquera.
Tomiyasu concluded by expressing pride in being part of Arsenal: "It's time for a new chapter, but I'm forever proud to have been a Gunner." His heartfelt message ended with a sentiment shared by many fans: "Once a Gunner, always a Gunner."
