The match, held outside England for the first time between these teams, ended with Pape Sarr's impressive goal just before half-time, giving Spurs a 1-0 victory. Despite Arsenal's improved performance in the second half, they couldn't overturn the result.

In the first half, Tottenham appeared dominant, hitting the post three times before Sarr scored from near midfield. Arsenal responded well after the break, achieving an expected goals (xG) total of 1.0 from 16 attempts compared to Spurs' 0.3 from six shots. Arsenal is set to face Villarreal and Athletic Bilbao before their Premier League opener against Manchester United on August 17.

Merino expressed disappointment over the defeat but emphasised its potential benefits for growth. "It's not the result we wanted," he stated. "Winning is a priority for us, but in pre-season, there are other things that have a lot of value." He highlighted fitness and fan engagement as key positives from their tour.

Arsenal concluded their Singapore and Hong Kong tour with two wins and one loss, defeating AC Milan and Newcastle United before falling to Spurs. Arteta viewed the tour as successful despite not achieving all desired results. "In terms of preparation...a lot of positives to take from the camp," he remarked.

Viktor Gyokeres and Cristhian Mosquera made their debuts during Thursday's defeat after joining from Sporting CP and Valencia respectively. Arteta praised their attitude and quality: "A big surprise...the quality that they have has been incredible." He appreciated the camaraderie among players and staff throughout the tour.

Arteta also acknowledged fans' support during their travels: "A big thank you...they made us feel incredibly privileged to represent this club." The team's preparation involved adapting to various challenges over two weeks, which Arteta commended everyone involved for managing effectively.
