Arsenal and Tottenham receive boost in Malcom chase

With the Bundesliga giants out the race, it clears the way for Arsenal or Tottenham to sign the £50million-rated player, who has been heavily linked with a number of clubs.

Bordeaux winger Malcom

Kolkata, March 18: Bayern Munich manager Jupp Heynckes has denied that his side has any interest in signing Bordeaux's Brazilian winger Malcom.

With the Bundesliga giants out the race, it clears the way for Arsenal or Tottenham to sign the £50million-rated player, who has been heavily linked with a number of clubs after revealing in January he had struck an agreement with Bordeaux to let him go in the summer to his preferred destination.

However Heynckes has removed Bayern from the equation, although that does not guarantee that the Bavarians will not make any offer for the wideman.

Heynckes said: "I have never seen him play. Therefore, I am not able give an opinion on him.

"But I don't think there is interest here. He always gets put into the shopping window but nobody really goes after him."

Malcom was tipped to be a long term replacement for Bayern winger Arjen Robben, who is now 34 and currently out injured.

Arsene Wenger is known to be an admirer of the 21-year-old and the news should be welcomed at the Emirates.

The Gunners were keen to bring him to North London in January and a deal looked likely when Malcom's agent posted a picture of himself in the capital.

But the Gunners eventually got Henrikh Mkhitaryan in exchange of Alexis Sanchez and the deal for Malcom did not take place.

Arsenal will face competition from Spurs who also went after the youngster in the last window but were put off by his price tag.

Mauricio Pochettino is still tracking Malcom, who is regarded as a star of the future, despite the arrival of Lucas Moura.

Liverpool and Manchester United have also been linked with Malcom often and it will not be a surprise to see the duo also entering the race.
