Joao Gomes Extends Contract With Wolves Amid Arsenal And Tottenham Interest

Joao Gomes has signed a five-year contract extension with Wolves, keeping him at the club until 2030. The midfielder's new deal comes amid interest from Arsenal and Tottenham.

Joao Gomes, previously linked with Arsenal and Tottenham, has committed to Wolves by signing a five-year contract extension. This new deal keeps him at the club until 2030, with an option for an additional year. Gomes joined from Flamengo in January 2023 and quickly became popular among fans at Molineux. He has played 72 Premier League matches, scoring six goals.

The Brazilian midfielder's recent performances have been impressive, netting three goals this season. Only Matheus Cunha and Jorgen Strand Larsen have scored more for Wolves, with 13 and nine goals respectively. Despite interest from top Premier League clubs, Gomes' contract reportedly lacks a release clause, securing his future at Wolves.

Gomes Signs Wolves Extension Until 2030

Head coach Vitor Pereira expressed his delight on the club's website: "I'm very happy because Joao is a team player. He gives 100%, and he has the quality to help this team to make the next step." Pereira praised Gomes' dedication and contribution both in attack and defence.

Pereira highlighted Gomes' importance as a midfielder who can maintain high energy levels throughout matches. "At the end of every game, he has given everything for the team," Pereira noted. He emphasized the need for players with hunger and spirit to contribute positively to Wolverhampton's success.

This contract extension helps alleviate concerns about losing key players in upcoming transfer windows. Matheus Cunha might leave due to his £62.5 million release clause, but Gomes' commitment provides some stability for Wolves.

Currently, Wolves sit comfortably above the relegation zone by nine points with nine games left in the season. Their next match is against West Ham on Tuesday, where they aim to secure their position further.
