Arsenal Vs Tottenham: Key Predictions For Women's Super League Derby Matchup

As Arsenal prepares to face Tottenham in the Women's Super League, predictions indicate a strong chance of victory for the Gunners. Key match insights highlight Arsenal's impressive home record against Spurs and their current form.

Arsenal will face Tottenham in the main event of matchweek 14 in the Women's Super League. Arsenal trails Chelsea by 10 points, while Tottenham is in sixth place. All six matches are scheduled for Sunday. Manchester United will host Crystal Palace, and Chelsea will play against Everton at Kingsmeadow. West Ham takes on Brighton, Leicester City meets Aston Villa, and Manchester City faces Liverpool to complete the fixtures.

The action begins at Leigh Sports Village Stadium with Manchester United aiming for a sixth consecutive league win. They have kept clean sheets in four of these victories. Since last season, 79% of their wins have been without conceding a goal, more than any other team. The Opta supercomputer gives them an 82.8% chance of winning against Crystal Palace, who have only a 6.5% chance.

Arsenal and Tottenham Clash in WSL Derby

United remain unbeaten at home this season, winning four out of six games and drawing two. They could avoid defeat in their first seven top-flight matches for the first time. Crystal Palace has won just one out of 13 games but has earned five of their six points away from home, including a recent draw at Brighton.

Arsenal has won all four home WSL games against Tottenham, keeping clean sheets in the last three encounters. The supercomputer predicts Arsenal's win probability at 78.4%, compared to Tottenham's 8.5%. Arsenal has won six of their last seven WSL matches, scoring three or more goals in five victories.

In London derbies, Arsenal hasn't drawn in their last 13 WSL games (seven wins and six losses). Similarly, Tottenham hasn't drawn in their last 11 league derbies (six wins and five losses). Tottenham has only one win against Arsenal in ten WSL meetings.

Chelsea's Unbeaten Run

Chelsea is unlikely to lose their lead as they have a 99% chance of winning the title according to Opta's model. They are strong favourites against Everton with an 88.9% chance of victory. Chelsea remains unbeaten in their last 26 games across all competitions (25 wins and one draw).

Everton has lost each of their last seven away league games against Chelsea since June 2013 and has never beaten reigning champions in the WSL in 20 attempts (three draws and 17 losses). Chelsea is unbeaten in their last 15 WSL meetings with Everton.

West Ham vs Brighton

Brighton started the season well but is now winless in five WSL matches, sitting fifth on the table. Opta's model favours West Ham with a win probability of 43.6%. Brighton came out victorious in only 29.6% of simulations.

West Ham has won three out of four recent home matches but only one out of nine meetings with Brighton recently.

Tight Contest Between Leicester City and Aston Villa

Leicester City joined the WSL in the 2021-22 season and has struggled since then with the most losses (53) and second-most goals conceded (165). Despite this, they sit three points above Crystal Palace currently. The supercomputer predicts a close match with Aston Villa having a slight edge at 37.7%, while Leicester stands at 36.2%.

Aston Villa lost three out of five recent WSL games under different managers but haven't lost three consecutively since early last season.

Manchester City vs Liverpool

The weekend concludes at Joie Stadium where Manchester City aims to bounce back after losing to Arsenal recently. Liverpool has improved lately with two wins from three matches after struggling earlier this season.

Liverpool seeks rare success against Manchester City as they have lost seven out of eight previous away encounters except for one draw back in June 2016.
