Arsenal trying their best to bring Monaco midfielder Thomas Lemar

Arsene Wenger still hopeful of signing French sensation Thomas Lemar as he is ready to spend for the midfielder no matter the price.

London, July 19: One of the players who have been strongly linked with Arsenal throughout the summer transfer window is Monaco midfield sensation Thomas Lemar.

Arsene Wenger is rumoured to be a long-admirer of the Frenchman but he could miss out on the 21-year-old according to recent reports.

The Telegraph claims that the French champions insist the 21-year-old will not be sold this summer for any price.

Lemar played a key role as Leonardo Jardim's men snatched the Ligue 1 trophy away from Paris Saint Germain last season.

With Arsenal looking to make their way back to the top-four, Wenger has earmarked the Frenchman as a priority signing.

Some reports reckon that Wenger is set to step up his efforts to bring Lemar to England, with a host of fringe players to be sold to fund for the signing of Lemar.

Although Monaco have very little interest in selling their star players who have stunned Europe this campaign, it is believed that Lemar is interested in a move to Arsenal due to his admiration for Wenger the manager of the Gunners, who extended his managerial career by a further two years.

Lemar made a move from Caen to Monaco in 2015 and since then, he has become a sensation. He has earned a call-up to France's senior squad where he has won two caps and has impressed in them.

He also helped his club storm into the Champions League semi-finals beating English club Manchester City in both the legs, but bowed out to Serie A champions Juventus in the semi-finals.

Just 21 years of age, the Frenchman boasts all the qualities to become a successful footballer in coming years and promises to be a quality addition to the Arsenal side if the Gunners can secure his signing.

Although Lemar is naturally a wide player who likes to operate from either flank, he can also play in central midfield and has done really well in that role for the most of this campaign.

With his high work rate and ability to pick out his teammates, he could bring a lot to the Arsenal midfield. Lemar has struck 14 goals and set up 13 goals for his teammates this campaign which suggests that he already has the final product.
