Arsenal vs Man City: Five-star Gunners maul Man City as Erling Haaland eats a Gigantic Humble Pie

Who are You? Who are You? The chant reverberating across the Emirates Stadium as Arsenal rose epitomized a magical night for the Gunners.

Arsenal, denied by a last-gasp goal at the Etihad earlier this season, roared back to win the bragging rights at home as they mauled Man City 5-1.

Arsenal vs Man City: Five-star Gunners decimate City

Mikel Arteta's men pounced early in the match as Martin Odegaard scored from a Manuel Akanji mistake. Kai Havertz managed to miss an unthinkable one which kept it just 1-0 at the break.

Early in the second half, Erling Haaland rose the highest to score the equalizer for Man City, but as the Norwegian celebrated in a muted style with a stare, the Gunners boys on the pitch perhaps had enough, as they cooked Guardiola's boys with three goals in the next 20 minutes.

Thomas Partey scored from distance to restore Arsenal's lead, and then it was young Myles Lewis-Skelly, who scored his first Premier League goal to double the lead for the Gunners. Kai Havertz then redeemed himself to score one as it was the North London club who rejoiced on the night. Then in the 93rd minute, Arsenal made it five as Ethan Nwaneri curled one in to complete an emphatic scoreline.

Arsenal were brilliant and comprehensively gunned down Man City. Mikel Arteta's men are still six points behind leaders Liverpool, but it is a statement win, which must feel very sweet for them. Earlier this season, a ten-man Arsenal almost clinched three points, but got denied by a 97th minute equalizer from John Stones. And what happened afterwards?

Erling Haaland eats a Humble Pie

Erling Haaland, City's lanky goalscorer hit the ball on Gabriel's head, and then told Mikel Arteta to 'stay humble'. It created widespread rage amongst Arsenal fans, but the circle seems complete today.

Since that match, Haaland and his team have lost 10 matches across all competitions, and Sunday's Emirates marked their 11th loss, and the tall Norweigan left the capital with a gigantic humble pie. The arrogance, bigger than the game mentality from Man City has crashed down this season like a house of cards, and this lesson from Arsenal is an appropriate dressing down for Haaland.

Arsenal get their Revenge

Arsenal's Gabriel found an opportunity to repay Haaland for a previous incident, taunting the City striker after Odegaard's opener. Later, Lewis-Skelly mimicked Haaland's signature meditation celebration, adding a touch of irony to the proceedings.

Mikel Arteta's men will be hoping to march on and build on this momentum as they face Newcastle United next in the EFL Cup semifinal. And for Manchester City, it must be a lesson for them and their star striker to keep their legs grounded, otherwise, the ramifications may get bigger in the coming days.
