Arsene Wenger confirms David Ospina will start against Bayern Munich

Arsene Wenger had promised David Ospina that he would play all the European matches which actually convinced him to stay at the club as a second fiddle to Petr Cech.

London, England: Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has confirmed that he will field second goalkeeper David Ospina ahead of Petr Cech in the Champions League clash against Bayern Munich.

The decision to drop first choice goalkeeper Petr in a crucial match against giants Bayern Munich came as a shocker to many.

Arsenal are not in a very good position in the league at the moment and as it seems it will be an uphill task for the Gunners to win. In a situation like this, Ospina's inclusion in the starting XI raised several eyebrows.

Arsenal do not have an impressive track record against Bayern Munich. The Gunners had faced Bayern several times in the last half a decade and were ousted from the tournament every time.

But Arsene Wenger sounded confident in his plans and will not change his decision under any circumstances.

Wenger claimed, he had promised Ospina that he would start in every European game which Arsenal plays this season and he will not break his vow.

Wenger further mentioned that his assurance convinced the Colombian international to stay back at the club as a second fiddle to Petr Cech.

While nobody can question David Ospina's glove work, if the custodian fails, Wenger will be scrutinised and criticised heavily once again.

Arsenal take on Bayern Munich at the Allianz Arena on Thursday midnight.
