Bengaluru, August 9: Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has promised that he will definitely make more transfers before the window closes at the start of September.
But the fans should not get excited as the manager is also looking to offload a number of fringe players before he makes further additions.
Arsenal have a pretty huge squad right now, which was highlighted at the back of the Community Shield programme the past weekend.
Speaking after the curtain-raiser of the English season, which saw Arsenal beat Chelsea 4-1 on penalties following a 1-1 draw inside 90 minutes, Wenger told: "To be honest, the number is too high,"
"We will let some players go. Too much competition for places is detrimental, but not enough competition for places is detrimental as well."
It is believed that a host of Arsenal players could be on the move this summer including players like Theo Walcott, Olivier Giroud and Jack Wilshere.
Alexis Sanchez has been long-linked with an exit but it seems that Arsenal will do whatever in their powers to retain the Chilean.
Meanwhile, Arsene Wenger has proved he remains in control of Arsenal's transfer policy after rejecting recommendations from within the club to sign Juventus midfielder Mario Lemina.
Lemina completed a £18 million move to Southampton for a club record fee, just in time for Premier League opener this weekend.
Stoke and Watford had registered an interest in Lemina but Arsenal were first to identify the 23-year-old as a possible target at the end of last season.
However, despite the board looking to bring Lemina in, Wenger did not sanction the move as he refused to be dictated by the board in the transfer market.
Arsenal begin their Premier League campaign with a tricky game against Leicester which will be a mega season-opener this campaign.
