London, August 4: The transfer saga of Arsenal forward Alexis Sanchez has been going on and on from a long time and it seems that the Chilean will have to stay at Arsenal for another year.
Sanchez will stay at Arsenal for this season and will "respect" that decision from the club, Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has confirmed on Thursday (August 3).
It is public knowledge that the Chilean superstar is desperate to move away from the Emirates and Arsenal being the desperate to keep him at the club, and it seems like the north London club have won the battle at least once.
The Gunners forward has been strongly linked with a move away from the Emirates Stadium for most of the summer, with his contract due to expire in a year's time.
Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester City are linked with the Chilean superstar with Bayern, Chelsea and Juventus also showing interest, but the 28-year-old will feature in an Arsenal kit next season according to Wenger.
Sanchez was granted an extended summer break after representing Chile in the Confederations Cup, but only returned to training on Tuesday (August 1) after illness.
"The only thing I can tell you is he is focused," said Wenger.
"My decision is clear - he will stay and he will respect that."
The Frenchman, 67, said he would no longer speak publicly about speculation over Sanchez's future, adding: "It is not information anymore, it is suicide.
"He will be here for this season and if we manage to do it for more seasons, we will do it as well."
Keeping Sanchez against his will would be a massive risk from Arsenal as they could lose him for nothing next summer if he does not sign a contract extension, but at the same time, it shows the intent of the club, that they are ready to hold on to their star players.
