Mikel Arteta acknowledged Arsenal's injury-hit attack lacked creativity, yet he remained optimistic about their title chances despite a 0-0 draw with Nottingham Forest. With key players like Kai Havertz and Gabriel Jesus out for the season, and Gabriel Martinelli and Bukayo Saka also unavailable, Arteta fielded a makeshift front three. Mikel Merino led the line, supported by Ethan Nwaneri and Leandro Trossard, but they struggled against one of the league's toughest defences.
Arsenal have now gone two consecutive Premier League matches without scoring, a first since May 2023. The Gunners managed just one shot on target for the third time this season, previously doing so against Bournemouth in October and Newcastle United in November. In comparison, Arsenal had only one game with a single shot on target in each of the previous three seasons.

Currently, Arsenal trails league leaders Liverpool by 13 points after Liverpool's 2-0 victory over Newcastle United at Anfield. Despite this gap, Arteta remains committed to fighting for the title. According to Opta's supercomputer simulations, Liverpool has a 98.7% chance of winning the 2024-25 Premier League title, while Arsenal's chances stand at just 1.3%.
Arteta expressed his determination: "It is the same as a week ago, two weeks, three months ago," he said regarding Arsenal's title hopes. "The only thing we can do is win our matches and see how many points we get." He admitted dropping two points was painful but emphasised their commitment to winning.
Despite not scoring in back-to-back games, Arteta found positives in their performance against Forest compared to their previous match against West Ham. "Very different standard [to the West Ham defeat]," Arteta noted. He praised their energy and willingness to make things happen defensively but acknowledged they couldn't find that final pass to break down a well-organised team.
The Gunners' next challenge is against Manchester United in their upcoming league fixture. Arteta stressed the need for more shots on target and highlighted their determination: "We showed unquestionable character in how much we wanted it and tried." He added that they dominated possession but lacked the spark needed to unlock Forest's defence.
Arteta concluded by stating that while they tried various approaches and insisted throughout the match, they ultimately fell short of securing a win. The focus now shifts to improving their attacking output as they prepare for future challenges in the league.
