Mikel Arteta expressed his frustration after Arsenal's goalless draw against Everton at the Emirates Stadium. Despite dominating the match, Arsenal failed to secure a win, marking their second consecutive Premier League draw. The Gunners have only managed eight victories in 16 league games this season. Arteta believed his team deserved to win, citing their control and numerous chances.
Arsenal had an expected goals figure of 1.42 from 13 attempts but were thwarted by Everton's goalkeeper Jordan Pickford and a resilient defence. Arteta stated, "It's very disappointing not to win the game. We fully deserved to win the game. We conceded no shots and we dominated play." He highlighted the team's intensity in the second half despite Everton's preparation time.

Pickford was instrumental for Everton, making five crucial saves, including a remarkable stop from Bukayo Saka's volley early in the second half. This performance helped Everton maintain their defensive record, with only Arsenal having more clean sheets in 2024.
Everton manager Sean Dyche acknowledged his team's lack of attacking threat, as they managed just two shots without any on target. However, he praised his players' defensive discipline and commitment throughout the match. Dyche commended full-backs Ashley Young and Vitalii Mykolenko for their performances.
Dyche told BBC Sport: "They [Arsenal] are a fine side. We know that. The players put a big shift in. We showed commitment to doing the basics, pressing and recovering and staying true to it for 90 minutes." He emphasised Young's form and Mykolenko's one-on-one defending as key strengths.
The draw left Arsenal in third place, missing an opportunity to close the gap on Liverpool, who also drew against Fulham at Anfield. Despite their strong defensive record, Everton remains focused on improving their attacking output as they continue their campaign.
