Arteta Vows Arsenal Will Not Give Up On Premier League Title Race Despite Setbacks

Mikel Arteta remains committed to Arsenal's pursuit of the Premier League title, despite a significant points deficit and injuries. He emphasises the team's determination to fight until it is mathematically impossible to win.

Mikel Arteta remains resolute in Arsenal's pursuit of the Premier League title, despite trailing Liverpool by 11 points. Arsenal's recent 1-0 defeat to West Ham at the Emirates Stadium ended their 15-game unbeaten streak. Meanwhile, Arne Slot's team secured a 2-0 victory over Manchester City, further extending their lead at the top of the table.

Arsenal's title hopes have been dented by injuries to key players like Kai Havertz and Gabriel Jesus, with Gabriel Martinelli and Bukayo Saka also out. The Gunners face a challenging match against third-placed Nottingham Forest on Wednesday. Although they won this fixture 2-1 last season, Arsenal hasn't achieved back-to-back away wins at the City Ground since 1987-1990.

Arteta's Determination for Premier League Title

Despite the odds, Arteta emphasized Arsenal's commitment to fighting for the title until it's mathematically impossible. "We're not going to stop. Over my dead body," Arteta declared. "If not, I will go home. Mathematically it is possible." He stressed that every game counts and that they must keep pushing forward.

The task ahead is daunting, but Arteta believes winning under these circumstances would require something extraordinary. "If you are going to win the title in the circumstances we have, you will probably have to do something that nobody else has done in the history of the Premier League," he stated.

Following their match against Forest, Arsenal will continue their Champions League campaign with a two-legged round of 16 clash against PSV Eindhoven. In addition to European commitments, they face significant Premier League challenges with an away game at Manchester United and a home fixture against Chelsea before next month's international break.

Opta's supercomputer now predicts a 96.6% chance for Liverpool to secure the title, leaving Arsenal with just a 3.4% chance of finishing first in May. Despite these statistics, Arteta remains optimistic about his team's potential to achieve something remarkable this season.

Arteta acknowledged that three days ago, closing the gap seemed possible but emphasized that they must continue striving regardless of current difficulties. "Suddenly, three days ago, we could close a gap," he noted. "It doesn't matter; we have to continue to go."

As Arsenal navigates these challenges, their determination remains unwavering in pursuit of success both domestically and in Europe.
