Arteta Urges Arsenal To Maintain Premier League Consistency Following Champions League Triumph

Mikel Arteta emphasises the need for consistency in the Premier League after Arsenal's Champions League success against Real Madrid. With a crucial match against Ipswich Town ahead, he aims to secure vital points as the Gunners strive for a strong finish this season.

Arsenal's manager, Mikel Arteta, believes their recent Champions League victory over Real Madrid can inspire a strong finish in the Premier League. The Gunners face Ipswich Town on Sunday after defeating the Champions League holders 2-1 at Santiago Bernabeu, securing a 5-1 aggregate win and advancing to the semi-finals. Despite trailing Liverpool by 13 points in the league, a win could delay Liverpool's title celebration.

Arteta emphasised the need for consistency in their league performance. "We celebrated briefly," he said. "It was a great evening with family and happy faces around the club. But now, we must focus on Ipswich in the Premier League." He added that this victory demonstrated Arsenal's ability to compete against any team and highlighted the importance of maintaining consistency.

Arteta Calls for Consistency from Arsenal

Ipswich Town is fighting for survival and needs a win to keep their hopes alive. Arteta acknowledged their situation, stating, "I understand where they are at the moment, and they're playing at home." He stressed the significance of winning matches to maintain their current position and approach the final games with optimism.

Ipswich manager Kieran McKenna remains hopeful despite his team's struggles. He expressed confidence in his players' ability to achieve a positive result against Arsenal. "We believe in ourselves," McKenna stated. "If we execute our game plan perfectly, we have a chance to compete with the best."

Liam Delap is Ipswich's standout player this season, scoring 12 goals in the league, which makes up 36.4% of their total goals. His recent form includes two goals in three matches, attracting attention from bigger clubs. For Arsenal, Bukayo Saka has been instrumental with seven goals and eight assists in his last 16 Premier League games against newly promoted teams.

Saka also scored at Bernabeu recently and has contributed significantly since returning from injury. In six appearances across all competitions since his return, he has netted twice.

Match Prediction: Arsenal Win

Arsenal has dominated teams starting the day in the relegation zone, winning their last ten Premier League encounters by an aggregate score of 30-2. They have also triumphed in six of their last eight away games against Ipswich across all competitions and remain unbeaten in their last 14 league meetings with them.

Ipswich has never defeated Arsenal in 11 previous Premier League clashes (D2 L9), marking it as their most frequent opponent without a win. Meanwhile, Arsenal's record against Portsmouth is similar but more extensive (14 matches). Ipswich has lost all six home league games this year, matching defeats suffered at Portman Road during 2023 and 2024 combined.

The Opta Win Probability suggests Arsenal holds a significant advantage with a 63.6% chance of victory compared to Ipswich's 15.5%. A draw stands at 20.9%.
