Mikel Arteta expressed significant frustration after Arsenal's defeat to West Ham, which impacted their title aspirations. Arsenal missed the opportunity to narrow the gap with Liverpool to five points, losing 1-0 due to Jarrod Bowen's first-half goal. The situation worsened when Myles Lewis-Skelly received a red card for a reckless challenge in the second half.
Despite having 20 shots, Arsenal struggled to create clear opportunities and only managed two on target, matching West Ham's efforts. Their expected goals (xG) were slightly better at 1.22 compared to West Ham's 1.07. This loss ended Arsenal's 15-match unbeaten run in the Premier League.

Arteta was candid about his dissatisfaction, stating, "Even though the possession that we had and 20 shots, I never felt that we were at the standard and the level that we needed." He emphasized the need for more attacking threat and criticized his team's vulnerability in losing possession in dangerous areas.
The manager took responsibility for the performance, saying, "We have to be [angry]. I hope we are very much because we didn't hit the levels today, and I am very much responsible for that, so I am very, very angry." His comments reflect his disappointment with both the result and Arsenal's overall display.
Liverpool can increase their lead at the top of the Premier League to 11 points if they defeat Manchester City on Sunday. According to Opta's supercomputer, Liverpool has a 91.7% chance of winning the title. In contrast, Arsenal's chances have dwindled to 8.2%, with an 83.2% likelihood of finishing second.
When asked if Liverpool beating City would end Arsenal's title hopes, Arteta responded: "It's not in our hands. For me, I'm really, really annoyed about the things that are in our hands, and we didn't do as well as we possibly could and that's the performance and the result today."
This defeat highlights Arsenal's challenges in maintaining consistency against tough opponents. Arteta’s focus remains on improving performances within their control as they aim to stay competitive in this season’s title race.
